00-14N (2023)

I love playing nylon string guitars but have always wanted a slimmer neck than what you find on traditional classical guitars, as well as 14 frets at the body instead of 12. This definitely isn’t a “traditional” classical / flamenco guitar, but rather a hybrid nylon-string guitar with contemporary appointments and design elements.

The body shape is based off a 1920s Martin 00-28 & subtly smaller than a traditional classical but still larger than a parlor guitar. I decided to leave the fingerboard & peghead free of inlay but included side dots for easy reference. The nut width is a hair over 1-7/8” — noticeably wider than the 00-28 it’s copied from, but still a good deal more narrow than a traditional classical guitar. The neck profile is slim & nimble all the way up to the heel curve,

The sound port on the player’s side upper bout is a fantastic modern design element that acts as a monitor, directing sound waves towards the player’s ear as well as out the front-facing aperture. I find guitars with a sound port to have a full, complex sound, as they project sound in both the vertical and horizontal axis.
